Almost 1000 fewer starving children!

This is wonderful news: The evaluation of our Community Healthcare project in Nyangao, Tanzania, shows that a major positive development has taken place in the past year (2022):

A total of 3199 infants were examined. Malnutrition was diagnosed in 544 and anemia in 453. All of these children were successfully treated in hospital with appropriate therapies. Follow-up examinations were also carried out, which confirmed a sustained recovery.

Another success was the important vaccinations that were given to 14,286 children.

In addition, 1668 girls and women were screened for cervical cancer during visits to the villages as part of the Community Healthcare project. The results were positive in 17 of them. The affected patients were all successfully treated in hospital and have now recovered. Without the examinations, the course of the disease would very likely have been associated with severe complications for these women.

As the project is not only about medical examinations and treatment, but also about preventative measures such as training and educational work, monthly workshops and seminars are offered for women and families. In 2022, 4989 people were taught about women's rights, proper nutrition, preventive medical care and more.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our employee Geni Mabelya who, together with her colleague Joanneema Laiser, is tirelessly keeping this project running on site.
