Review 2022

The new year is already almost two weeks old, and we would like to give you a brief review of the most important things we were able to achieve in the past year.

Back in January, there was great news in Myanmar great news: after years of planning, we were finally able to open the Mother and Child Center in Bogale. Since then, many babies have been born there and the center is becoming increasingly well-known and accepted by the population, which is reflected in the rising number of patients. In total, the center was visited 18947 times! In addition, the solar system on our floating clinic 'Polli' was installed and now supplies the ship with solar energy. Another highlight in Myanmar was our first visit to the Delta after a break of more than two years: Corona and the precarious political situation in the country have simply made our missions impossible. Of course, we were delighted to see each other again, but the visit also clearly showed us that the situation in the country remains very uncertain and that our help and support is very much needed.

We were also able to implement several projects in Tanzania with the help of our local colleagues. For example, the community health project to combat malnutrition in children was driven forward and the long-awaited laparoscope was professionally installed in the hospital by Dr. Solveig Groß. In particular, the two new Artemed expert teams 'Gynaecology' and 'Hygiene' provided training in the areas of hygiene/sterilization and ultrasound screening.

Our Street Doctors continued to be very active in Bolivia. Here, too, a first visit after two years was possible again in the fall of 2022. The meeting showed us that the Bolivian team is very well organized and has coped wonderfully with these difficult times.

We are looking forward to the coming year and are excited to see what we will achieve together.
