During visits by our Community Health Care Team to the villages around St. Walburg’s Hospital in Tanzania, they not only provide healthcare and preventive care, but also always cook together. Beforehand, during nutrition counseling, they discuss how to use the few available ingredients to provide children and families with healthy and sufficient meals. Porridge made from millet and corn is regularly prepared for the children in a huge pot over an open fire.

Each family brings small bowls and dishes. Nothing goes to waste, as you can see in the picture above.
In addition, vegetables, edible leaves, and other ingredients are used to prepare delicious dishes.

These photos were taken by Ulrike Bischofberger, who once again lent a helping hand in December; she is a trained nurse and has volunteered several times in Nyangao alongside her husband, the gynecologist and obstetrician Kurt Bischofberger (as we reported), and supports Geni and Joanne’s outreach team with great dedication and experience.
