The earthquake, which struck with a magnitude of 7.7 Myanmar and neighboring countries fortunately spared our projects in the Irrawaddy Delta.
Our employees and their families as well as the ships of the River Doctors, Swimming Doctors and the Mother and Child Center escaped unscathed and with a big scare. Everyone is now hoping that the dams will hold and that there will be no strong aftershocks.
However, many people in other regions of Myanmar have been hit extremely hard, their homes have been destroyed, they have lost family members and are injured themselves. Our local team has bought food, clothing and medicines and has started an initial transport to the Mandalay region to help on the ground. In this way, we can bring relief supplies directly to people in need on a smaller, more manageable scale and know that the aid will arrive. If you would like to donate, please enter "Earthquake" in the comments field.
Our main task these days remains the provision of medical care to the population in the Irrawaddy Delta. The immense increase in patients in recent months, who have no other access to healthcare, the rise in prices for medicines and fuel, the salary for an additional doctor to cope with the influx of patients, demand our full commitment - both in terms of personnel and finances.
We therefore thank you for every donation, large or small, for our projects in Myanmar.
Thank you very much for your help.
