Visit from Tanzania

We have been looking forward to this visit for a long time: Dr. Kasoga from Tanzania visited Artemed Stiftung as part of his trip to Germany. Mr. Kasoga is a gynaecologist and clinical director of our partner hospital St. Walburg’s Hospital in Nyangao, with which we have carried out many different projects since 2018. We have traveled to Tanzania countless times with our M.A.T.E team and have always received a warm welcome. Together with our local colleagues, we have carried out medical training courses, completed renovations and infrastructure upgrades and discussed and planned promising, innovative ideas with great motivation and commitment.

The fact that Mr. Kasoga also paid a visit to the foundation during his three-week trip to Germany was therefore of great significance and important for the continuation of this wonderful cooperation. Together with Sister Raphaela, who herself lived in Tanzania for over 50 years, and Dr. Veronika Hofmann, Managing Director of Artemed Stiftung, clear strategies and goals were defined for the coming years.

In addition to his stay in Tutzing, Mr. Kasoga also attended the WHO Summit 2022 in Berlin, where he met with Dr. Solveig Groß, a gynaecologist who works for us on a voluntary basis. The meeting was used to discuss sensible investments for the hospital that are also in line with the WHO's current efforts.

The doctor also had the opportunity to work in four different clinics. 'I learned a lot of new things,' says Kasoga, 'the fact that they already operate with 3D imaging here is a far cry from the standards in Tanzania. But then he adds with a grin: 'but the German clinics should check their names on google maps! Fortunately, thanks to good signposting, I found everything after all!
