Monthly report St. Walburg’s Hospital December 2021

Unterstrich_grau
The St. Walburg’s Hospital provides healthcare for the entire area around Nyangao in rural southern Tanzania and far beyond the local borders with a catchment area of around 1 million people. It struggles with all kinds of limitations such as insufficient financial resources, a lack of qualified staff and problems with the energy supply.
We have joined forces with the St. Walburg`s Hospital to do something about this. We see our opportunities primarily in the further development of medical standards, in particular through the further training of employees in Tanzania and also in Germany. We also want to help build up qualified staff and support the hospital in setting up and expanding its infrastructure and making urgently needed purchases.
You will now receive monthly information on the St. Walburg`s Hospital and the events in Tanzania.

Purchase of a C-bow

Infrastructure_hospital

Thanks to the generous donations from the digital fundraising event on November 22, 2020, it is possible to purchase a C-arm for the St. Walburg`s Hospital to purchase a C-arm. This mobile X-ray machine is used to operate on broken bones. Currently, broken bones are set and screwed in Nyangao without being able to check the position or screw position with X-rays. This is a major limitation for the Tanzanian surgeons. They do their best under the circumstances, but many complications could certainly be avoided if intraoperative X-rays were available for monitoring.

This wish can now become reality. Various offers of C-arms are currently being obtained and evaluated by our expert. In any case, it will be a device that is already available and in use in Tanzania to ensure that the know-how for operating and maintaining the device is available in the country.
