New head of state - new hope

After the death of President Magufuli, Tanzania now has a new head of state. Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan was sworn in as the new president in Dar es Salaam on 19 March, making her the first woman to hold the office. With her, the handling of the Corona virus now also seems to change. The Tanzanian Ministry of Health has already issued guidelines for the treatment of Covid-19, and we now also hope for measures to protect the population and the resumption of testing soon.

Tanzania's President John Magufuli died in mid-March. According to the new president, he died of heart failure. However, a prolonged absence had previously caused public speculation about a possible Covid 19 disease. Magufuli had long denied the existence of the coronavirus in the country and caused a stir with provocative and dubious statements about the pandemic. Tanzania has not released official corona figures since May last year.

In the St. Walburg`s Hospital the suspected Covid-19 cases are currently declining. However, our local team is expecting another wave of infections and is gearing up. Finally with government support.
