Tag December 26, the Street Doctors visited the Obrajes women's prison in La Paz, Bolivia, as they often do, to examine and provide medical treatment to the children who live there with their mothers. This time, however, they came loaded with Christmas gifts. The medical team was allowed to enter the prison with the gifts and distribute them there under the supervision of the guards. Dr. Marcelo, the project's lead physician, writes, "Fue un dia muy especial." He describes how touching it was to see the great joy they brought to the children and their mothers. The Street Doctors felt it was a great gift to put smiles on the children's faces and to experience so much gratitude. Children who often spend several years in prison with their mothers.
