We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Marcelo from the Street Doctors in Bolivia for an enriching clinical rotation in Germany! On Sunday, I personally picked up Dr. Marcelo at Munich Airport; this is his first trip to Europe, so it’s been quite an experience in many ways. After a brief first night in Munich, we continued on to picturesque Freiburg on Monday. At the Loretto Hospital of the Artemed Clinics, Dr. Marcelo was warmly welcomed by Dr. Christian Hartmann, a senior physician at the Center for Urology, who will be accompanying him over the coming weeks. Dr. Hartmann had previously worked on the project in Bolivia himself and had invited Dr. Marcelo to this internship. This existing familiarity creates an ideal foundation for an in-depth professional exchange and the opportunity to gain valuable experience.

Over the next four weeks, Dr. Marcelo will be working closely with the staff at Loretto Hospital, gaining new insights into medical practices and procedures. After his time in Freiburg, we look forward to welcoming him to Benedictus Hospital in Tutzing, where he will continue his internship for another month before returning to La Paz.

We wish Dr. Marcelo a rewarding and inspiring time here in Germany. We are confident that the experiences he gains here will have a lasting positive impact on his important work with the Street Doctors in Bolivia.
