The ongoing war in Myanmar has had devastating consequences for the civilian population: over 3.5 million people have already been displaced from their homes. They have not only lost their homes, but also their livelihoods - work, income and therefore access to basic food and medical care. Most of them are completely dependent on food donations from the region.
Access to medical help is particularly difficult in this emergency situation - and at the same time essential for survival. This made the deployment of a medical team from the Irrawaddy River Doctorswhich visited the refugee camp in the village of Wetinpauk in the Hlegu region from May 2nd to 3rd. The aim of the mission was to provide the local people with free medical care and important health education.
A total of 845 people were examined and treated during this mission. They not only received medical help, but also important information on health care and hygiene - a crucial contribution to improving living conditions in the camp.
This humanitarian mission was made possible thanks to the generous support of numerous donors. The Artemed Stiftung covered the full costs of the project, making an essential contribution to medical care in a particularly difficult situation.
