Building a fairer, healthier world

To mark the founding date of the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948, World Health Day is held annually on 7 April. For the first time for the entire calendar year, the WHO is focusing on health equity in 2021 with the campaign motto "Building a fairer, healthier world".

This is an issue that affects Artemed Stiftung on a daily basis and which we advocate for in our projects. People's state of health and health behaviour still depend to a large extent on their living conditions. Even in Germany, a clear disparity can be seen depending on social status, and the difference is much more drastic in developing countries. 5 billion people worldwide have no access to safe surgery. At least 400 million people have no opportunity for health care at all. In view of these figures, it almost seems as if we live in different worlds.

We are therefore pleased that WHO is using this year's World Health Day to draw attention to this disparity. With our work, together with our helpers, we are making a contribution to alleviating this imbalance. Because our vision is a world in which every person has access to medical care and thus to a dignified life.
