Run for all you're worth...

Even Kurt Bischofsberger was gobsmacked: 10759.85 euros were raised by a fundraising campaign organized by a school principal friend and her school. And all the money is to be donated to St. Walburg’s Hospital in Nyangao.

The gynecologist from Lörrach is overwhelmed: He has already visited our partner hospital in Nyangao, Tanzania several times, helped out in the obstetrics department, assisted, passed on his knowledge and learned something new himself(we reported). Of course, he also told his patients in Germany about his assignments - including a principal who has now retired. Her express wish was to organize a sponsored run by the schoolchildren to raise money for the clinic in Nyangao instead of a farewell gift. The idea was met with extreme enthusiasm: the children ran for all they were worth and the parents donated diligently. In addition, the school's support association also agreed to make a donation to Artemed Stiftung .

Almost 10,800 euros were raised and will now be donated to the hospital. "I would be very happy if it could be used to buy some equipment for the maternity ward. For example, there is a lack of good ultrasound equipment and so-called Kiwis* for vacuum deliveries. Many births could be simplified and complications avoided," said Bischofsberger, who proudly accepted the savings bank cheque at the end of the school event.

*Kiwi or kiwi bell: Disposable bell for vacuum extraction. Unlike conventional suction bells, it does not require an electric motor; the vacuum is generated manually using a handle.
