Jeden Monat schickt uns unsere Projektleiterin in Myanmar Su Myat Oo (genannt Su Su) eine Zusammenfassung der Aktivitäten bei den Irrawaddy River Doctors und im Mutter-Kind-Zentrum. Darüber hinaus gewährt sie uns Einsichten in die aktuelle Lage im politisch instabilen Myanmar und welche Auswirkungen dies auf die Menschen vor Ort hat.

Wir geben ihren eindrucksvollen Bericht im Original in Englischer Sprache wieder. Hier sind ihre Beobachtungen für den Monat Oktober:

Dear Dr. Veronika,

I am writing a monthly overview report for IRD October, 2022 trip. Our trip had finished safely and complete on October 23rd Sunday evening. In this month, our team was able to provide medical treatment for 12 villages.

According to ICD result, we treated  a total amount of children and adults about 1285 patients. This includs general patients (933; 73 %) and dDental patients (352; 27 %). We checked 87 pregnant women and did 64 laboratory test for AN care. 174 children under 15 years (male female) came for medical check-ups and including dental treatment. Total deworming number for October 2022 is 150.

As usual the diseases that our team treats regularly were mainly Malaria, Dengue, Hepatitis, Syphilis, HIV, diabetes mellitus, coughing, respiratory infection, disease of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, joint swelling and pain, and much more. In the dental Clinic, we helped patients with dental caries, periodontitis, gingivitis, sometimes oral ulcer and tongue ulcer. For the filling procedure, composite filling, glass ionomer filling as temporary and sometimes zincoxide eugenol were used as medicated filling.

This month, due to the weather conditions, we could reach two villages less than in September, which also results in 45 less treated patients. Furthermore, during October, we took a break from thealth education program to schools. As you know, this time is a very difficult situation for the people of Myanmar. Amid political instability, everyone struggles for the livelihood and due to the political instability, everyone felt more hurt and hurt.

Now, we are planning and discussing the November trip and we will certainly restart the health and dental education program. We have toothpaste and toothbrush to share as well as soaps and mosquito repellent lotion.

Neuigkeiten aus dem Mutter-Kind-Zentrum, Bogale

Auch im Oktober konnten wieder einige kleine Burmesen das Licht der Welt erblicken und es ist weiterhin ein reger Zuwachs an Patientinnen zu verzeichnen, die das Zentrum zur Vorsorge, Entbindung und Nachsorge aufsuchen. Außerdem steigt die Anzahl an Kindern, die für Check-Ups und wegen medizinischer Beschwerden in die Klinik kommen.
