The Christmas and summer vacations in La Paz Bolivia are over and the Street Doctors are once again providing daily care to children and young people who are on their own or come from very poor families and cannot afford medical care. This week, the three ambulances were once again on their way to the poor districts "Zona de Callapa" and "Pena Azul", which are located far outside the city and where the population has hardly any access to medical treatment. The journey into the city is extremely difficult and people cannot afford the cost of a check-up. The Street Doctors were also in "El Alto", which is one of the poorest cities in the world and is directly adjacent to La Paz, to whose urban area it originally belonged. General medical treatment and dental check-ups were provided everywhere. There is also a lot of suffering and illness among the children and young people who regularly try to earn a living in the area around the main train station: in addition to medical treatment, the Street Doctors also take care of mental health and provide a little comfort in difficult situations.
