Erik Lewerenz, Head of Purchasing and Logistics at Artemed SE, was able to achieve some sustainable improvements in the area of administration together with the team on site during his assignment in September 2024.
The introduction of a new inventory system for medical technology devices was a great success. All devices can now be recorded and managed centrally with the help of a barcode printer. This not only enables improved maintenance, but also creates the basis for more efficient planning and further development of the equipment fleet.
During his stay, Lewerenz carried out a thorough inventory of numerous logistics processes and implemented initial optimizations together with the employees on site. A central concern was the development of a clothing distribution system, as the hospital was expecting a donation in kind from Artemed Stiftung of over 800 kilograms of work clothing from the Artemed Klinik Hospital zum Heiligen Geist in Kempen.
However, the challenges in the procurement processes became particularly clear: an outdated materials management system, highly bureaucratic processes and difficulties in estimating requirements pose major hurdles for the hospital. Further targeted measures and improvements will be required here in the future.
With his professional expertise and commitment, Erik Lewerenz has made a decisive contribution to modernizing the structures at St. Walburg’s Hospital . We look forward to continuing on this promising path together and putting the hospital on a stable footing in the long term.
