On Friday, December 16, 2022, Bayerischer Rundfunk will present projects that Sternstunden e. V. is supporting this year in the evening show (6 p.m.). Our activities in Myanmar to improve care for pregnant women and infants will also be presented. Dr. Solveig Groß, a long-time volunteer gynaecologist in our M. A. T. E . team, will explain the project in the broadcast and give impressions of her work there.
Ms. Groß was instrumental in designing the mother and child centerin Bogale, which opened at the beginning of 2021. It is a point of contact for pregnant women to enable good preventive care and avoid complications during births. Over 70 healthy babies have been delivered here since the beginning of the year. In the meantime, word has spread about the quality of health care at the center and more and more women and children are coming there for various ailments. It offers a safe place where patients feel they are in good hands in a country that is currently experiencing a lot of unrest and danger. In addition, the doctor has also traveled on our 'Polli' in the past with the Irrawaddy River Doctors to provide gynecological care to women in remote villages, conduct educational work and support the team on the ship.
We are delighted that this project is being supported by Sternstunden e. V. and that Ms. Groß will have the opportunity to report more about it in the evening show. It will certainly be an exciting report that is well worth watching.
