At the beginning of October, Angelika Hartmann, specialist nurse for hygiene, Barbara Theisen, nurse in the cardiac catheterization laboratory (both from the Hospital zum Heiligen Geist in Kempen) and Sr. Ulla-Mariam, senior physician and head of the palliative care unit (from the Benedictus Hospital in Tutzing) travelled to St. Walburg's Hospital. All three brought many years of experience in hospital life with them to Tanzania, which they were able to apply intensively on site. Ms. Hartmann and Ms. Theisen concentrated primarily on hygiene, laying the foundations for hand hygiene and training the staff in its correct application. Sr. Ulla-Mariam in particular passed on her diagnostic knowledge in the field of ultrasound.
