Monatsbericht aus Myanmar: Su Sus News and Insights

Unterstrich_grau

Dear Dr. Veronika,

I hope you are fine and healthy. In May we had planned to provide medical treatment for 14 villages, but due to the Mocha cyclone storm, we had to cancel the medical treatment program for two villages.

WE started on May 2nd and worked for 19 days until the 24th. According to the ICD results, we got the total amount of children and adults patients of 1371 patients. This number includes general patients (1032) and dental patients (339). We checked a total number of 65 pregnant women for AN care check-up and did laboratory test for 44 of them. Further laboratory tests have been done for 232 patients. 258 children undet the age of 15 years came for medical check-ups, medical treatment, including dental treatment. 20 children were younger than one year. Total deworming number for May was198.

In May our team continued to provide general medical treatment for respiratory infection, headache, Malaria, Dengue, Hepatitis, Syphilis, HIV, diabetes mellitus disease of the skin and and much more. Additional – our dental team, helped patients with dental caries, periodontitis, gingivitis, sometimes oral ulcer and tongue ulcer due to sharp edges of the teeth and root rests. Many other dental problems coiuld be solved as well.

During this month, we had a few patients less than expected, because we could not reach all the villages because of the cyclonic storm. On May 12, the local weather forecasters made alerst concerning the cyclonic storm Mocha because it was as powerful and mainly affected Myanmar and parts of Bangladesh on 14 – 15 May 2023. Therefore we decided that our team needs to come back to office station due to safety reasons before the start of storm and all our team were safe.

In this month, the rainy season has started in Myanmar. As you know, during the rainy season, travel in wide river is very dangerous for our boat, so we will temporarily stop the two villages Byue Sa Khan and Pyat Pyee villages for all safety during the rainy season.

In my conclusion, I would like to thanks to Artemed Stiftung and all donors for your continue support and love for Myanmar IRDoperation. I am very happy to be able to work together with trust until today. W25

With Best regards,

Su Su
