Jeden Monat schickt uns unsere Projektleiterin in Myanmar Su Myat Oo (genannt Su Su) eine Zusammenfassung der Aktivitäten bei den Irrawaddy River Doctors und im Mutter-Kind-Zentrum. Darüber hinaus gewährt sie uns Einsichten in die aktuelle Lage im politisch instabilen Myanmar und welche Auswirkungen dies auf die Menschen vor Ort hat.

Wir geben ihren eindrucksvollen Bericht im Original in Englischer Sprache wieder. Hier sind ihre Beobachtungen für den Monat Juni:

Dear Dr. Veronika,

I hope you and your team are fine and healthy. I am writing the monthly overview report to inform you about our medical trip and activities in June. On 24th June evening the medical trip was finished safely. During the trip, we faced many problems: you probably heard about the situation of Myanmar on social media. The condition is disappointing and it get worse day by day. We are not safe anywhere. Therefore, there is nothing we can do, but we are always praying for our safety.

According to June trip schedule, the trip begun on June 4th and last until June 24th, during this time 12 villages could be visited. We treated a total amount 2124 patients (children and adults). The list includes general patients (1412) and dental patients (712) as well as (74) pregnancy women who came to our boat for AN care. Laboratory tests for pregnant (50) women have been done and a total number of 629 children (1 – 15 years) came for medical check-ups and treatment. 17 infants (<1 year) visited our boat for medical treatment. Additionally we were able to deworm 300 persons.

During June, most patients came due to medical treatment for Malaria, Dengue, Hepatitis, Syphilis, HIV, diabetes mellitus, coughing, respiratory infection, disease of the skin and subcutaneous tissue. But many more diseases could be treated.

In June, we also visited a new village to provide medical treatment. The village is called Ka Naung village, Pya Pone township. There are around 200 household in this village and they also have a basic education middle school.

Neuigkeiten aus dem Mutter-Kind-Zentrum, Bogale

Im Juni wurden im Mutter-Kind-Zentrum insgesamt 160 Frauen behandelt. Davon kamen sechs zum Entbinden, 95 zur Schwangerschaftsvorsorge und sieben zur Nachkontrolle. Die verbleibenden 52 Patienten suchten das Zentrum wegen anderer Beschwerden auf. Erstmalig wurden im Juni auch Kinder behandelt. Insgesamt kamen 8 Kinder zwischen einem Jahr und 11 Jahren, um sich untersuchen zu lassen. Die steigende Zahl der Besuche seit der Eröffnung des Zentrums im Januar 2022 zeigt, dass es von der Bevölkerung angenommen wird und hoher Bedarf besteht.
